Panola County Commissioners vote unanimously to allow county employees to carry concealed handguns in the courthouse.

Other items of interest include the approval of a rental contact with the Henderson Civic Center for jury selection for the upcoming Bernie Tiede trial, which was moved from Panola County to Rusk County back in October.

The Panola County Commissioners Court is set to meet on Monday morning at 9 a.m.

Items on the agenda include discussion and possible action on allowing county employees to carry concealed handguns in the courthouse.

County Judge LeeAnn Jones says that under the current personnel policy employees have no restrictions, with the exception of the Road and Bridge policy. Judge Jones says the court needs to decide because the personnel policy is currently under review by an employment attorney.
