KGAS RADIO went on the air in October 1955 at 1,000 watts. In January 1978, the FCC authorized a transmitting power increase to 2,500 watts. Ten years later, in January, the FCC authorized station KGAS to remain on the air with reduced power all night. In September 1988, Jerry T. Hanszen and his wife, Wanda, purchased KGAS RADIO and in July 1991, acquired FCC authorization to construct a new FM broadcast station. Updated equipment and new promotions have increased the quality of the station and broadened the listening audience extensively.

KGAS 104.3 FM plays classic country while 1590 AM/103.7 FM  plays ESPN Radio. KGAS is strongly news oriented with local and regional news five times daily in addition to Westwood One News and Texas State Network News.
